ROME NEAL as MONK
"Last night as we paid homage to Thelonious Monk with the screening of my one-man performance in MONK the play by Laurence Holder with music by Bill Lee. At the after Party Q&A Eddie Henderson, one of today's top and most original jazz trumpet players/ educator and medical doctor, blew my mind as he spoke of his first hand experiences with MONK as one of his young doctors. Eddie talked about Thelonious' schizophrenia and shock treatment that gave us an insight of his genius even at that time while in the hospital in Cali for treatment. His stories were revelations that gave me so much more respect, love, and enlightenment for MONK the genius. Thank you so very much Dr. Eddie Henderson. Thank you again to Dr. Mona Vaughn Scott for producing not only that evening, but the Rome Neal's Banana Puddin' Jazz Meets BRG Sweet Potato Pie Jazz the night before paying homage to BLACK music makers of our past... What a way to celebrate BLACK HISTORY MONTH"
Thank You for a Marvtastic Evening!
